The Stewards of Invictus

  • Jim Ellis : President/The Wayfinder

I help guide the club’s direction, culture, and long-term vision. My path into dragon boating has been shaped by community building, leadership, and a deep belief in shared effort over individual achievement. Rooted in connection, resilience, and purpose, my role is less about command and more about clarity—helping people find their rhythm, their strength, and their place together on the water and in the community.

  • Head Coach: The Blade Master

Anne Becker is an international dragon boat coach and certified personal trainer. Born in East Germany, she was a multi-sport athlete and competed on the national gymnastics team before living and working across Europe, Africa, South America, and the U.S.

Since discovering dragon boating in 2012, Anne has focused on inclusive, athlete-centered coaching for both para-athletes and able-bodied paddlers. Based in Tampa Bay, she is dedicated to helping paddlers become stronger, more confident, and faster—together.

  • Denmother: The Mother of Dragons

JONNYCAKES Wright has been paddling since 2007 and proudly carries the titles Mother of Dragons and Den Mother. Passionate, enthusiastic, and deeply welcoming, she has a gift for bringing people together and making newcomers feel instantly at home. To her, Invictus is about far more than paddling—it’s about belonging. As she says, “We are much more than a team—we are family.”
